Fish Heads, the Beloved Pool Bar Famous for Fresh Tacos, Delightful Drinks and Beachfront Fun, Reopens at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Pensacola Beach

The island’s go-to destination for delicious food and drinks, unbeatable views from an open-air deck 32 feet above the sand, and a come-as-you-are vibe is back and better than ever.

PENSACOLA BEACH, Fla. Fish Heads, the popular pool bar that attracted locals and visitors alike, has reopened at the new Fairfield Inn & Suites Pensacola Beach (fairfieldpensacolabeach.com), a collaboration between Innisfree Hotels and RREAF Holdings. The casual Fish Heads restaurant features 119 indoor and outdoor seats, plus ordering is available around the pool area. An open-air deck 32 feet above the sand offers an unobstructed view of the Gulf, while a dune walkover leads guests directly to the beach for a post-meal stroll.

Back on the menu are Fish Heads’ famous tacos, served two to an order on corn-flour tortillas with flash-fried chips and salsa. Try the customer favorite Fresh Catch fish taco, prepared grilled, blackened, or fried, or opt for Margarita Shrimp, BBQ Chicken, or Carne Asada tacos. Crowd-pleasing appetizers like Nachos, Peel-and-Eat Shrimp, and Grouper Fingers have also returned to Fish Heads’ menu. The Farm Burger has been updated with an over-easy egg and bacon jam, and a new Slaw Dog that features Fish Heads’ house-made coleslaw is sure to be a hit.

Fish Heads’ cocktails are some of the best on the beach. The Fish Heads Bucket will wow guests with its five different types of rum (mango, pineapple, banana, passion fruit, and coconut) with orange juice, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, and lime juice, all topped with grenadine and Sprite. Frozen Margaritas, Daiquiris, Piña Coladas, and Bushwackers help keep guests cool on hot summer days, not to mention signature cocktails like the 11 Mile Island and the Stress Reliever.

“When we began to build the new Fairfield Inn & Suites Pensacola Beach, we heard an outpouring of love for Fish Heads from so many in the community that we knew we had to bring it back even better than before,” said Ted Ent, President and CEO of Innisfree Hotels. “People have really missed it, both local residents and visitors, and we are very proud to make Fish Heads part of the Pensacola Beach community again.”

The reopening of Fish Heads has included hiring 20 full-time and eight part-time employees. Overseeing kitchen operations are Derrick Crandall, Director of Food and Beverage for Fairfield Inn & Suites Pensacola Beach, and Dustin Weaver, Food and Beverage Supervisor for the property. Both of the experienced culinary leaders have worked their way up from dishwasher and busboy to running and managing professional kitchens, and they are eager to show Fish Heads’ guests fun and delicious food experiences.

“Now that summer has officially commenced, guests will be able to enjoy the outstanding food and drinks at Fish Heads all while relaxing in the pool,” said Mitch Provosty, Chief Financial Officer of RREAF Holdings. “The reopening marks an exciting milestone for the season, and we’re looking forward to providing best-in-class service. The 209-room beachfront property is ideal for leisure, business, and family travelers, offering the Gulf Coast’s largest lazy river, modern and spacious fitness center, fast wifi, central AC, complimentary breakfast, delicious on-site dining, and much more.

PENSACOLA BEACH, Fla. — Soaring 11 stories into the Island’s clear blue skies, the all-new Fairfield Inn & Suites Pensacola Beach (fairfieldpensacolabeach.com) officially opens today.

The 209-room, $75 million beachfront property — a collaboration between Gulf Breeze-based Innisfree Hotels (innisfreehotels.com) and Dallas-based RREAF Holdings (rreaf.com) — stands on the site of the former Best Western Beachside Resort, a beloved Pensacola Beach hotel that was razed after sustaining severe damage from Hurricane Sally in 2020. Rebuilding the space as a brand-new Fairfield Inn & Suites has allowed the Partners to create a safe, modern, fun, and inviting property that is perfect for vacationers, families, and business travelers.

“In many ways, this milestone opening of the Fairfield Inn & Suites Pensacola Beach marks the final piece of the Island’s recovery from Hurricane Sally,” said Ted Ent, President and CEO of Innisfree Hotels. “We’re proud to once again provide the community with a new, robust hotel that has incredible accommodations and amenities to attract locals and visitors for many years to come.”

Among the new Fairfield Inn & Suites Pensacola Beach’s highlights:

  • The Gulf Coast’s Largest Lazy River: At 315 feet long and holding 60,000 gallons of water, the lazy river meanders past three waterfalls, a skyline of palm trees, a hot tub, and a zero-entry pool, giving rafters a long, memorable ride. Other water features include an adult pool, two hot tubs, and direct access to the crystal-white sands and pristine waters of Pensacola Beach.
  • Fun and Delicious Food & Beverage Outlets: Fish Heads, the popular pool bar and grill with unbeatable views of the Gulf of Mexico from an open-air deck, has reopened on-site, offering its famous fish tacos, flat-grilled cheeseburgers, ice-cold tropical cocktails, and more. The property also boasts a beautiful elevated lobby bar that overlooks the Gulf. And, of course, the famous Fairfield full, hot breakfast is always complimentary for guests.
  • State-of-the-Art Fitness Center: A spacious 800-square-foot modern facility with floor-to-ceiling windows that provide breathtaking views of the Santa Rosa Sound with workout equipment from top performance brands.
  • Modern Upgrades for Comfort and Convenience: High-speed wifi is available throughout the property, and central AC provides quiet, efficient, and healthy air circulation in guest rooms and public areas. Gulf-facing rooms feature oversize furnished balconies. A comprehensive recycling and sustainability program is on par with Innisfree’s and RREAF’s rigorous environmental standards.
  • Other Attractions: Pensacola Beach is the Gulf Coast’s only true beach-to-bay Island experience. There is plenty to see and do within walking distance, including great, award-winning restaurants like Salt, Sal de Mar, Riptides Grill and Tiki Bar, Red Fish Blue Fish (pet-friendly!), and Water Pig BBQ. Also, a free trolley stops at the hotel and will take guests anywhere on Pensacola Beach.

“Having been here for the Best Western days and now being part of this Fairfield Inn & Suites project, it is truly rewarding to introduce our community to this amazing new property,” said Seth Fagan, General Manager of Fairfield Inn & Suites Pensacola Beach, adding that the hotel created about 200 local jobs. “From the lazy river to the fitness center to Fish Heads to the guest rooms, there is not one detail we overlooked, and we cannot wait for locals and visitors to experience it all for themselves.”

“Our collaboration with Innisfree Hotels brings together our collective strengths in both commercial real estate and hospitality to create a remarkable experience for guests,” said Mitch Provosty, Chief Financial Officer of RREAF Holdings. Provosty also noted, “Through this partnership, we are not only offering something new and exciting for residents directly in the area, but are also helping to attract outside business to Pensacola Beach, creating a steady opportunity for financial and community growth.”
The hotel is located at 16 Via de Luna Dr., Pensacola Beach. For more information and to book a stay, visit fairfieldpensacolabeach.com or call 850-932-1889.

The 179-seat restaurant, which features custom local art and organic design elements, is open daily for breakfast, lunch & dinner with dishes made from scratch with the freshest ingredients.

PENSACOLA BEACH, Fla. — Innisfree Hotels (innisfreehotels.com), the premier hotel owner-operator along the Gulf Coast, announces that its new upscale-casual restaurant Salt at the Hilton Pensacola Beach (hiltonpensacolabeach.com) opened to the public on May 16.

Guests can expect an elevated, fine-dining experience at Salt, whether they’re catching up with friends over an al fresco lunch on the restaurant’s patio or celebrating a special occasion in the restaurant’s welcoming dining room.

“We’re proud to bring a true dining destination to Pensacola Beach with Salt,” said Ted Ent, President and CEO of Innisfree Hotels. “From the moment you step in, you feel transported to a world of warmth and relaxation. Along with Italian-trained chef Humberto Mendez and a highly skilled kitchen crew, Salt is crafting dishes that have already been delighting diners, like:

  • Traditional Mediterranean dips like hummus, baba ghanoush, tzatziki and “crazy feta” are stone oven baked with fresh garlic and served with grilled pita and extra virgin olive oil.

  • Arroz a la marinera features copious amounts of local Gulf shrimp, calamari, mussels and scallops cooked in a rich seafood broth and served with rice that’s been threaded with saffron and infused with sherry.
  • Roasted Duroc pork chop, grilled filet mignon, cowboy steak and a Tomahawk steak meant to share are impressive non-seafood entrees.

In addition to delicious food offerings, Salt has a craft cocktail menu with signature drinks like Salt of the Earth (Maestro Dobel tequila, Cointreau, sumac and beet), Three Card Monte (Amaro Montenegro, Old Grand-Dad Bonded and housemade fig bitters), and Barbados Slim (falernum, pineapple, orange and orgeat) that are part of Salt’s full culinary experience.

Salt was designed with coastal inspiration of comfort and relaxation, focusing on natural materials, rich and vibrant colors, and striking lighting. Pecky cypress, a native Florida wood featuring natural holes and indentations, brings an organic feel throughout the restaurant. While dining, guests are surrounded by stunning works of art, curated by Luna Fine Arts Gallery and part of the Innisfree Private Art Collection, that have been specially commissioned from local artists and specifically designed for Salt. The artwork ranges from pencil drawings, paintings, sculptures and ceramics that add to the restaurant’s marriage of global and local.Salt is open daily for breakfast (7-11 a.m.), lunch and dinner (11 a.m.-10 p.m.), with the bar open until 11 p.m. For reservations and more information, visit saltpensacolabeach.com or call 850-343-6791.

Water Pig BBQ Reopens in Pensacola Beach, Just in Time to Feed Spring and Summer Visitors and Locals

The popular waterfront restaurant from Innisfree Hotels is back, serving championship barbecue, drinks, and to-go catering with longtime pitmaster Spencer Capps at the smoker.

PENSACOLA BEACH, Fla. Water Pig BBQ (waterpigbbq.com), Pensacola Beach’s premier beachfront barbecue restaurant, has officially reopened for the season, as of March 1. Located right on the water at 5 Via de Luna, Water Pig BBQ is the only barbecue joint in town where you can eat with your toes in the sand, seven days a week.

Back on the menu are Water Pig BBQ’s mouthwatering, house-smoked barbecue delicacies, like brisket, pulled pork, chicken, award-winning ribs, turkey, sausage, and more. All of Water Pig BBQ’s meats are smoked daily for up to 16 hours in the restaurant’s twin 1,000-lb capacity pits over locally sourced oak.

Those pits are overseen by veteran pitmaster Spencer Capps, a Pensacola native and University of West Florida graduate with more than 15 years’ experience running professional barbecue operations. While he’s a fan of everything on Water Pig BBQ’s menu, Capps says he most loves cooking and serving the restaurant’s signature St. Louis-style ribs, an all-time guest favorite.

“I grew up riding a longboard with my friends at this very beach where Water Pig BBQ is,” says Capps. “Fast-forward to today, and now I get to do what I love — smoking meats — in a place that I love. Life really does come full circle.”

Besides its popular barbecue, Water Pig BBQ also offers an array of salads, sides, and sandwiches, as well as beer, wine, cocktails, and a full bar. Meats by the pound and other catering items are available to-go. Live entertainment is available most nights, with a full schedule coming soon.

“We’re so excited to welcome guests back for another delicious season at Water Pig BBQ,” said Ted Ent, President and CEO of Innisfree Hotels, which owns and operates Water Pig BBQ. “With Chef Capps in the kitchen, we know our excellent food is going to go to another level of barbecue greatness.”

Luna Fine Art Gallery at the Hilton Pensacola Beach Unveils ‘A Way of Seeing,’ an Exhibit of Artwork Created Specifically for Blind and Visually Impaired People

The show, which features works designed to be touched, was produced in partnership with Independence for the Blind of West Florida and runs through March 12.

PENSACOLA BEACH, Fla. — Innisfree Hotels’ Luna Fine Art Gallery proudly announces a new exhibit specifically designed for blind and visually impaired people, open now through March 12 at the gallery, located inside the spectacular Hilton Pensacola Beach

“A Way of Seeing” is produced in partnership with Independence for the Blind of West Florida — a project two years in the making — and features artwork designed to be touched, created by an impressive lineup of local artists: Blythe Marshall, Jennifer Fleming, Mary Anne Staples, Nikki Strahota, Joan Overton, Katie Thompson, Maria Hoch, and Patricia O’Neal.

Hoch’s piece, titled “Shape Shifters,” is made up of movable parts for all art lovers to create their own design. The artwork will be donated to Independence for the Blind for display in their building after the exhibit at Luna Fine Art Gallery.

“I have a friend who has recently been diagnosed with macular degeneration, an age-related eye disease,” Hoch said. “Someone who is visually impaired still has a framework to allow an appreciation for art. In ‘Shape Shifters,’ I utilized the concepts of high contrast, tactile sensory, and interactive participation. I wanted to invite the viewer into how art is made.”

Independence for the Blind provides services — at no cost to its clients — that teach people with visual impairment to become and remain independent: cooking, cleaning, hygiene, public transportation, working, shopping, and the list goes on. Several clients in Independence for the Blind’s transition program — teenage students who are preparing for college, trade school, jobs, and independent living — met with the exhibit’s artists before they created their pieces and recently experienced the artworks in the gallery.

“As opposed to your typical museum or gallery setting, our clients were able to get up close to the works and even touch most of them,” said Raven Holloway, Executive Director of Independence for the Blind of West Florida. “It allowed them to relate and appreciate the artwork as fully sighted individuals do. Experiences like this, in everyday life, one might not appreciate the intentional effort put forth by these artists, but the visually impaired community here has thoroughly enjoyed it.”

The gallery, located at 12 Via De Luna Drive, will rotate in some new pieces throughout the exhibit and a fundraiser will be hosted for Independence for the Blind on March 11. Several pieces of artwork from the exhibit will be donated to Independence for the Blind’s school-age clients after the exhibit.

“Our goal in creating Luna Fina Art Gallery within Innisfree’s Hilton Pensacola Beach was to connect communities through the arts,” said Ted Ent, President and CEO of Innisfree Hotels. “This exhibit is a perfect example of showcasing and celebrating the diversity in our community through art.”Visit hiltonpensacolabeach.com/art-gallery for more information.

Innisfree Hotels Names Bethanne Edwards New Director of Sustainability

A proven leader in the environmental space, Edwards will drive Innisfree Hotels’

increased focus on sustainability in 2023 and beyond.

GULF BREEZE, Fla. — Innisfree Hotels (innisfreehotels.com) is pleased to announce that environmental expert Bethanne Edwards has joined the company in a new role as Director of Sustainability.

The position is part of Innisfree Hotels’ focused commitment to sustainability in 2023 and beyond. The company’s “triple bottom line” approach to business — considering People, Planet, and Prosperity with each decision and striving to strike a balance between all three — makes sustainability a key factor in supporting the communities that Innisfree serves.

Edwards says her initial attention will go toward reducing the company’s carbon footprint — including efficient energy and water use and minimizing waste — as well as engaging employees, guests, and local communities through environmental awareness initiatives. Innisfree Hotel’s portfolio of beach and seaside properties is part of what attracted Edwards to the company.

“I feel a deep connection to nature and feel most at home when I’m at the beach,” she says. “In this role, I hope to help protect our beaches and leave a positive impact on the planet so that current and future generations can continue to experience the beauty it has to offer.”

Added Ted Ent, President and CEO of Innisfree Hotels: “We’re delighted that someone as deeply invested and genuinely passionate about the environment as Bethanne would join us in this incredibly important role. We very much look forward to seeing the impact she will have on our properties and their local communities.”

Edwards earned a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Texas Christian University. She worked in environmental roles for major companies before starting an independent environmental consulting business of her own in 2016. Based in Pensacola, she volunteers with local community group 850eco, the Pensacola and Perdido Bay Estuary Program, and Earth Day Pensacola.
